The trailer for Black Mirror season six is here and it’s teasing all new worlds, realities, nightmares, revelations, hallucinations, rabbit holes, and mind f*cks.
Don’t forget the technological woes and existential dread. Are we worried? Yes! Are we ready? Not really. Does that matter? Never.
The sixth season comes with five new episodes, each one crammed chock-full of weird tech, nightmarish scenarios, and several Easter eggs linking to the show’s past, per Mashable.
In one of the upcoming episodes, titled Joan Is Awful, an average woman named Joan (Annie Murphy) discovers that her life has been adapted into a prestige drama by a streaming service – which is totally a nod to Netflix, as ‘Streamberry’ has the same logo and opening sound.
In the trailer, we see the Streamberry menu showing a host of made-up dramas that are each a reference to a prior Black Mirror episode – read more about it here. Meta much.
In another episode, Loch Henry, a young couple travels to a Scottish town to make a nature documentary, only to stumble upon a juicier story tied to the town’s past.
Then, in Beyond the Sea, two men on a high-tech space mission in an alternate 1969 wrestle with tragedy, while in Mazey Day, a young starlet tries to evade invasive paparazzi following her after a hit-and-run incident.
Demon 79, the fifth and final episode is apparently the most perplexing, showing a meek sales assistant who is told she must commit atrocities to prevent disaster.
Doom prep for June 15, when Black Mirror Season 6 hits Netflix.
