You’ll need nerves of steel, or at least be a deep sleeper, if you want to stay at the Port Lympne Hotel and Reserve in the UK, otherwise, there will be no Hakuna Matata for you.
This lodge, which opened its doors in 1976, lets you sleep, cook and even take a bath with Lions in the same room.
The animal park is owned by the charity The John Aspinall Foundation, currently led by Damian Aspinall. The unique lodges, named Kikuyu and Jibana, offer guests the incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in the lives of Kamari and Hasani, two majestic African lions.
The first of its kind in the world, the timber rooms are set within the lion’s natural habitat with large picture windows in both the master bedroom and the open-plan living area that put guests just a warm breath away from the lions.
The rooms include all your basic necessities as well as a living room view of the pride and an outdoor bath. The lodge offers a ‘place to relax’, but with a lion checking you out while you have a bath, I’m not sure how relaxed you’ll be.
Check out the below video to experience this ‘unique’ place, or book your next holiday on their website:
