Constantia’s La Colombe has been heralded as a gastronomic gem for a long, long time now.
Ever since it started racking in awards and honourable mentions, ultimately becoming the crème de la crème of Cape Town eateries, I have been meaning to pop in for a bite – or rather, waft in for a mouth-watering experience.
I know, it is a travesty that I have not yet granted myself such a snazzy restaurant moment, but a writer’s salary does very little for gaining top-notch palate prowess. *Clears throat* – sugar daddies will be accepted.
Again, La Colombe, where contemporary French-meets-Asian fine dining, has been crowned as the best, this time in TripAdvisor’s annual Travelers’ Choice awards on the ‘Best of the Best Restaurants in Africa’ list.
In fact, three of South Africa’s very best eateries have taken spots in the top 10, which means I will need a committed sugar daddy, please.
SAPeople notes that the list awards restaurants with a large number of excellent reviews and opinions from the community over a 12-month period, with each winner having to pass TripAdvisor’s rigorous trust and safety standards test.
The three restaurants featured on the list are Constantia’s La Colombe at number one:
Reverie Social Table at number eight:
And then Franschhoek’s La Petite Colombe at number nine:
Yum, yum, and yum. I can barely do anything right now with my mouth salivating to this extent.
Here are all the Top 10 Restaurants In Africa:
- La Colombe (South Africa)
- Inti (Mauritius)
- L’Amandier Palais Faraj (Morocco)
- Casa Lalla Restaurant (Morocco)
- L’Ô À LA BOUCHE (Morocco)
- Hasu (Mauritius)
- INTI – A Nikkei Experience (Kenya)
- Reverie Social Table (South Africa)
- La Petite Colombe (South Africa)
- The Island – Pongwe Lodge Restaurant (Tanzania)
Okay, so naturally, La Colombe didn’t just take the number one spot on the Africa list but also featured on the ‘Best of the Best Restaurants in the World’ list. This time it fell just short of the Top 10, coming in at number 11. Still grand.
My DMs are open, you know what to do.
