Cliched, attention-seeking, and about as romantic as Valentine’s at Mcdonalds. These are some of the words people use to describe me as well as TikTok wedding proposal at Disneyland.
Most of these videos are fairly sweet, despite what the misers around me think, but the latest one has managed to make even the most jaded of us believe in fairy tales again.
It starts off with the standard pose and a kiss in front of one of the many palaces dotted around the Disney landscape, and you just know there’s a ring about to pop out of someone’s pocket.
These scenarios play out in different ways on TikTok. Sometimes there is pretend surprise and a delighted squeal as the couple embrace, other, funnier times there is the deer in headlights look on the woman’s face and a dejected guy who ends up finding solace in Goofy’s arms.
But this one is different, and the ending is better than 99% of TikTok proposals out there. It’s sweet as hell, and if I was a betting man, I would wager that their marriage will be long and filled with laughter.
