Let’s face it, Jeff was never going to ask Sanchez to marry him by putting a ring into her Cream Soda float at Spur.

When a billionaire who takes joyrides to space in a phallic-looking spaceship wants to pop the question, he does it on his R9,6 billion yacht, off the coast of France.

Bezos and his girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez, have been making headlines for quite a while now with their teenage love, and after last week’s news of their engagement, everyone has been giddily watching the true-life soapy that is the love life of the rich.

Bezos and the soon-to-be Mrs Bezos have been spending a lot of leisure time aboard his ‘f*** the poor’ boat the last few weeks. This more laid-back version of the bald billionaire is credited to his fiance who has been ‘re-styling’ him since the two have gone public about their relationship in 2019, but it hasn’t been a fairy tale for the pair to get here.

Rumours of ‘something’ between the couple started circulating after Sanchez was introduced to Bezos by her then-husband (Ouch!). The rumours were also the beginning of Jeff’s record-breaking divorce settlement as both tried to untangle themselves from their respective marriages.

Eventually, the pair managed to kick their ‘old partners’ to the curb and rumour became fact as their relationship was confirmed in a tabloid frenzy of holiday snaps and ‘insider scoops’.

During this time Bezos also had to launch a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Sanchez’s dodgy brother Micheal, as the sibling sold sexy snaps and saucy texts between the two to anyone who was willing to pay. But a billionaire gets his way every time, and after a while, Michael and his grudge faded into the background and the two were left to do their thing.

Marriage to one of the richest men in the world would naturally come with a ‘gold-digger’ label, but Sanchez herself is not poor either and owns an aerial film and production company worth several million. Incidentally, the pair’s ‘affair’ is believed to have started during a time when Bezos hired her company to do aerial shots for Blue Origin.

Who knows, perhaps seeing the size of his rocket made Sanchez fall in love with him.

Against this tumultuous backdrop, love bloomed and in the latest episode of The Jeff Show, he and Sanchez took the biggest step of all (again), and now we all get to vicariously live the loved-up lives of two people who found real love (again).

After popping the question to Sanchez, the couple attended the Cannes film festival, seeing as they were in the neighbourhood, and gushed about their engagement to their rich and famous peers. Sanchez reportedly could not keep her eyes off the 30-carat engagement ring Bezos gave her.

The two seem very much in love, and we wish them well. Hopefully, the next few seasons of The Jeff Show will be filled with huge houses and even bigger yachts. And if it gets too boring, we might even get to experience yet another record-breaking divorce in future seasons.

We certainly don’t wish for this, but when your life is a television show with an unlimited budget, plot twists can happen at any time.

And to all those who proposed to their would-be over a float at Spur, don’t be upset with my prior comment. According to my sources (a waitress at Spur), proposals at the franchise happen all the time, and most of those marriages last way longer than those sealed with a massive rock onboard a lavish yacht on the East coast of France.

(To clarify: there’s no actual show about Bezos. Yet.)
