Eskom Gives Another ‘Until Further Notice’ Update For Daytime Schedules

Honestly, we aren't even bothered with what power stations broke down anymore, even if the list sounds like a boyband. Next week, it may as well be John, Paul, Ringo, and George that let us down.

Eskom has announced that its daytime load-shedding schedule will now be stage 4 instead of stage 3, until further notice.

This follows the electricity provider’s (Haha) weekend notice that adjustment to alternating schedules will now drunkenly stagger between Stages 3 and 5.

A delay in returning units to service at Arnot, Kendal, Kriel, Lethabo, Matla, Tutuka, and two generating units at Hendrina power stations have added to its capacity constraints.

Our slow and steady creep toward a final notice continues.

“Breakdowns are currently at 18,177MW of generating capacity while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 2,629MW.”

Eskom mealymouthed some more:

“Over the past 24 hours, a generating unit each at Duvha, Kriel, Majuba, Medupi and Tutuka power stations were returned to service.”

“In the same period, a generation unit each at Arnot, Camden, Tutuka and two generating units at Kriel power stations were taken out of service due to breakdowns.”

Honestly, we aren’t even bothered with what power stations broke down anymore, even if the list sounds like a boyband. Next week, it may as well be John, Paul, Ringo, and Lennon that let us down.

Just tell us when we will be able to cook dinner in a well-lit kitchen again, and when we need to retreat to our bunkers for a blackout. Until then, we have to contend with this nonsense:

Oh, how I wish was on some Pacific Ocean archipelago now, like Atul and Rajesh. I hear Vanuatu’s capital Port Vila is great this time of year.
