Most musicians have a secret wish to one day be invited onstage by their favourite band, but the band Borderline Toxic got more than they wished for when Billy Joel Armstrong ran onstage during their show and sang a Greenday ‘oldie’ with them.
The band was rocking out to a Greenday hit at Slim Jim’s Liquor Store when Billie Joe, 51, weaved his way through the crowd and jumped onstage to join singer Kerry Glass in a roaring rendition of the Dookie classic.
With bleach-blonde hair, the Greenday frontman was not recognised at first, but once his distinct voice boomed through the PA, everyone went nuts as the rockers turned the volume up to 11. That’s a Spinal Tap reference for all you millennials. Google it.
The band posted the once-in-a-lifetime moment to their Instagram account soon afterwards.
“Thank you Billie Joe Armstrong a million times over for this unforgettable experience so glad I got to share this moment with a band I love, in my favorite bar, with all our mates… singing with my childhood idol.”
