South Africa is among the poorer nations according to Knight Frank’s Wealth Sizing Model.
The report reveals how much money individuals require in order to be among the top 1% of the wealthiest in their countries.
Our almost fully dark country sits at number 23 out of the 25 countries on the report, showing how little money is needed to be considered wealthy in Mzanzi compared to other countries.
SA People notes that Saffas need a net worth of $109 000 (R2,1 million) to be part of the select group of the top 1% wealthiest in the country.
That’s compared to the entry point for the wealthiest nation, Monaco, which requires an eye-watering, throat-chocking $12,4 million – R240 million.
Granted, the dollar-to-rand exchange is pretty shoddy right now for reasons related to Putin and his need for weapons, among a bunch of other things.
Meanwhile, the countries making up the Top 5 are Switzerland, with the Swiss needing a cool $6,6 million (R128 million) to be the country’s richest b*tches, Australia, with Ozzies needing a nice $5,5 million (R107 million), New Zealand, with Kiwis requiring $5,2 million (R101 million) to really make it rain and the US, with Americans racking in $5,1 million (R99 million) to be considered the cream of the crop.
