A Colorado driver who was pulled over by the cops during a roadblock switched seats with his dog to avoid being arrested for drunk driving. Spoiler alert: It didn’t work.
The man was stopped by police around 11:30PM on Saturday for allegedly driving 83km/h in a 50km/h zone. Probably realising that he was way too pissed to pass any sort of sobriety test, the man quickly switched seats with his dog, putting the canine behind the steering wheel.
Amused police officers watched the whole scene unfold as they approached the car. The tipsy genius then climbed out of the passenger side of the vehicle and claimed that he was not driving.
Clearly intoxicated, the man was asked if he had been drinking that night, at which point he probably realised the jig was up, and then bolted down the highway, leaving his poor dog behind the wheel of the car to face the cops.
The fool made it about 20 metres down the road before police were able to catch up with him. The guy was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, speeding, and resisting arrest.
Maybe next time he should get one of the driving dogs from New Zealand to get him home after a boozy night.
Police have confirmed that the dog was not facing any charges and only received a warning before being released into the custody of a friend.
Good boy.
