A young girl was critically injured in a freak accident that occurred on the R301 from Paarl to Franschhoek, opposite Boschenmeer Estate.
On Thursday, May 11, just after 2PM, a construction vehicle was dropping its load at a roadwork site when the thing weighing at least 20 tons fell sideways onto a passing car, leaving a young girl stuck in her seat for ages, IOL reported.
Thankfully, emergency services volunteers from the Drakenstein Farm Watch sprung into action to pry her from her squashed seat. Had it not been for quick-thinking emergency volunteers, the girl in the passenger seat of the passing car would have succumbed to the scary situation.
A camera managed to capture the scene unfolding, with the footage showing several vehicles passing the large truck along the Paarl R301 to Franschhoek before it eventually tips on the unfortunate bakkie passing by at the worst moment:

Members of the Drakenstein Farm Watch said the primary school girl was trapped in her seat, while her father managed to climb out with only light head injuries and scratches.
However, he did not leave her side, likely fearing the worst until the emergency volunteers saved her life.
It took a couple of hours of effort to carefully tilt and lift the truck while cutting the vehicle to pieces to eventually free the young girl.
As soon as she was out, she was loaded into an ambulance and transported to the hospital where she has been recovering from the near-tragic ordeal.
