A video capturing a shooting incident in Greenpoint has gone viral and peeps are commenting on how used to this kind of violence we have become.
A man was wounded in a shooting incident that took place on Friday on the corner of Napier and Somerset Streets in Green Point.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim was shot by unknown assailants when he got out of his vehicle with the thugs escaping into a nearby mall.
Not even into a getaway car for a frantic run from the law, sommer just into the mall for a quick coffee at Vida perhaps. Why not?
It is uncertain whether the shooting incident was linked to gang-related activity, but with bullets flying all over the place every day in SA, does it really matter? Someone got shot and the cops rocked up to string some police tape while everyone goes about their business. Just another day in SA.
A video of the incident was posted on TikTok by @abdullahkjamjam:
@abdullahkjamjam South Africa is a real movie. Here in Green Point there was just a shoot out near a nightclub. Both parties got away. #southafrica #crime #2023 #capetown ♬ original sound – JamJam The Comedian
Some locals responded with the usual post-crime banter:
‘”SA is a movie “….that I can believe cos Bheki Cele is literally playing Mr. bean’
‘And people are breaking out of prison and leaving a body and fleeing the country. SA is worthy of a Netflix series.’
‘I stay two blocks away at the Guest house opposite the traffic department. Things are insane these days’
‘Come to the cape flats where it’s normal.’
Hopefully, the wounded man will make a recovery.
