Oscar-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden felt compelled to reveal that “all her children are queer” during the ‘Drag Isn’t Dangerous: A Digital Fundraiser’ live telethon over the weekend.
Speaking to co-host Adam Shankman, the Meet Joe Black and Flubber actress revealed that she joined the fight against state lawmakers’ recent attempts to ban drag shows and performances, which they insist are unsafe for minors, due to her own children’s struggles as members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
“My eldest child is non-binary. My son is gay. My youngest is fluid,” she continued. “And you know, they are my kids, and they teach me every day.”
Harden believes the attempts to outlaw drag shows are “so fear-based, and it’s spreading that kind of fear and hatred among other people”.
The lady makes a point there, or as one protestor commented: “The law prohibits a drag performer wearing a crop top and mini skirt from dancing where minors might see it, but does not prohibit a Tennessee Titans cheerleader wearing an identical outfit from performing the exact same dance in front of children.”Let people dress and dance how they want.
Harden agrees and posted to Instagram:
“The only thing dangerous about drag is how hot these Queens are!”
Any celebrity with the remarkable luck to have all their children identify as queer is duty-bound to speak out and endear themselves to whichever community can use their support.
She’s lucky, my kid still identifies as a Big Chuggus from Fortnite.
