The Denver International Airport in Colorado, USA, has been gaining a lot of attention from conspiracy theorists after a number of weird art installations have popped up over the years.
One of the first ‘weird’ things about the fifth largest airport in the US is a massive 32-foot-tall, demon-eyed sculpture of a horse that is also known as Blucifer.
It’s not a very welcoming piece of art, and since its installation 15 years ago, the sculpture has drawn a lot of conspiracy theories, perhaps fanned on by the fact the creator of the piece, artist Luis Jimenez, was killed by his own creation.
Designed as a reference to Mexican murals and the ‘energy of the Southwest’, its glowing red eyes were meant as a homage to Jimenez’s father’s neon workshop. The installation, however, took on a sinister meaning when a piece of fibreglass broke off from the 9 000-pound sculpture and fatally severed an artery in Jiminez’s leg, causing his death.
If a murderous blue stallion wasn’t enough to give travellers the creeps, the airport became the focus of several TikToks earlier this year claiming another art installation was proof of the flat earth conspiracy. The installation at Concourse A depicts a tiled global map, set beneath arching train tracks and titanium poles.Airport officials pointed out that the piece is nearly 30 years old and represents the past and future of transportation, but TikTok had other ideas:

Some conspiracy theorists believe that another art installation in Concourse C represents the ruins of a post-apocalyptic city. Airline staff at the airport have also reported seeing ghosts and several Uber drivers believe the sand removed from the construction phase was used to create mounds that hide food reserves for the coming apocalypse.
“Why are there murals inside the airport depicting terrifying soldiers with gas masks, along with images of suspiciously cheery-looking children from around the globe? It’s a visual representation of the imminent one-world government.”
As we said, this place has a weird reputation.

Nutters and other conspiracy theorists have even pointed to the oversized airport property as evidence of an underground ‘Illuminati-like’ base that houses the world’s ‘overlords’ as they prepare for the coming doomsday (tentatively planned for next Wednesday).
Their evidence appears to be limited to the swastika-shaped runways, but the lack of real proof has never stopped anyone on the internet from believing something. Then there’s the stone slab in the airport engraved with a Masonic symbol, along with the words “New World Airport Commission”.The weird murals are also not helping to dispel the conspiracies.
You can decide for yourself if this is ‘evidence’ of some bizarre new world order plan to overthrow the planet.Or maybe Colorado just has some very weird artists and decorators with sketchy tastes. It is the US after all, so don’t expect everything to make sense all the time.
