Two tourists sank their SUV after they drove into Honokohau Harbor in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
“Pretty sure that wasn’t supposed to happen,” Christie Hutchinson can be heard saying from behind the camera as she recorded the scene.
Hutchinson later explained in a Storyful report that the crew of the Nanea sailboat had returned from a day of sailing when they witnessed the silver Chrysler Town & Country drive head-on into the harbour beside them.
She said the passengers were tourists trying to find a Manta Ray Snorkel tour company in the harbour and had been following their GPS directions when they took a wrong turn into the water.
How they did not stop to think; ‘wait, there is water, the GPS is wrong’, is completely baffling.
Luckily the sailboat crew were right there to help the dumb tourists back to land, sans SUV:

The New York Post noted that the internet was alight with jokes and mockery, of course, with many pointing out how the farcical footage was copied from The Office where characters Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute also drove straight into a body of water at the instruction of their GPS:

“I just watched this episode of ‘The Office,’” one fan wrote, while another quipped, “Michael Scott already did this episode”.
Others were mostly just baffled at how something like that could have happened. With absolutely zero though, that’s how.
