It’s 4/20 every day at Cape Town’s first legal cannabis dispensary and members club.
Cannibisters in Seapoint has been creating quite the buzz (and buds) since opening its doors in December 2021.
Styled as a unique combination of cannabis dispensary, herbal apothecary, and members’ club, this store is getting a head start on the potentially huge legal cannabis trade that is currently making its cumbersome way through the government legislative bureaucracy.
Cannibisters offers a wide range of services under its membership, including pre-rolled joints, bongs, and edibles with a variety of flavours. In addition to the stoner’s circle, the company also has a herbal apothecary featuring 85 strains of dagga, with the products all tested or cultivated under the watchful eye of founder Pierre Sarembock.
No cannabis spot would be complete without a coffee shop, and Cannibisters has a wide selection of coffee and teas, both the ‘happy’ and normal kind. And if the munchies kick in, you can find a fully stocked tuckshop to soothe your cravings.
One of the unique features of this shop is an in-house medicinal cannabis practitioner who can assist anyone wishing to begin their cannabis journey with educated advice and a starter pack.To become a member, interested individuals need to sign up and pay a membership fee. Ordering is easy, with orders made directly from the bar and placed in individual containers that resemble medicine bottles.
Included in your membership of R 100 per month is access to their quick delivery service, so now you can have your weed delivered to your doorstep within 45 minutes.
The venue can cater to up to 80 people at a time so it is a perfect place to hang with friends on a rainy Cape winter’s day.
Hopefully, this endeavour will help pave the way for other legal cannabis shops in the city. Weed has always been part of South Africa’s culture, whether the law permitted it or not.
In allowing shops to safely sell quality cannabis to the public, ordinary people who prefer the reefer to other ‘legal drugs’ don’t have to source their herb from dodgy drug dealers that often sell poor quality marijuana, or try to push some Tik along with your purchase.
