Poor Meghan might have been bending the truth a little when she said that she was unaware of how the royal family operated before she hitched her wagon to the throne, but surely even the Duchess of Sussex could not have anticipated the vicious scrutiny she has been under since marrying the Spare ginger.

To be fair, we’ve taken our fair share of potshots at the couple in recent months, as they attempted to create a ‘normal life’ for themselves by hogging as many talk shows and Netflix time as possible.

Just like our homegrown royal, Princess Charlene, the opinions have now begun to border on abuse.

This time the tabloids are going off about her recent appearance during a TED Talk this weekend, with some even suggesting that she straightened her hair and is wearing coloured contact lenses to look more like Kate Middleton.

The Duchess of Sussex has been out of the spotlight the last few months, especially during the whole ‘Will they or won’t they’ debate that has been raging over the King’s coronation invite. It seems that this absence is enough proof for the hyenas in the tabloids that Meghan was undergoing surgery.

“Facelift, filler dissolved in lips, buccal fat removal, more filler in cheeks, Botox, more subtle veneers, chin implant is my guess.”

Yes, the title-less twits on Twitter have zero chill when it comes to Meghan, but even on this platform, there are two sides to every non-argument, so at least Meghan had some peeps sticking up for her.

“Meghan doesn’t need plastic surgery! She is sun kissed, getting love and and moisturized! That is GLOW!”

It’s not even fun anymore to take shots at the royals. In some ways, it has become like hunting lions in cages, and everyone frowns on that. So why don’t we just leave speculation about cosmetic surgery out of the conversation when we look at someone who has been taking a beating the last few years, while also trying to raise two small kids under a global microscope?

For all she’s been through, Meghan probably deserves a bit more sympathy. We think she looks pretty good for someone who married into that family.

And no, we’re not royalists now, we just think a mom of two kids shouldn’t be accused of looking like Donatella Versace just because she sat under some sketchy lighting.

Then again, she’ll say something dodgy again soon and then we can have a go at her once more.
