Former Miss Rwanda, Jolly Mutesi, just told the world how Thabo Bester and Dr Nandipha Magudumana tried to lure her into their clutches.
She said they tried to make her come to Cape Town with the promise of $3 million per year to present a fake Netflix show. To really drive up the spectacle of Bester’s manipulation, Jolly was apparently told that she would be presenting alongside reality star Kylie Jenner and musician Drake.
Cape Town ETC reported that the former Miss Rwanda 2016 was approached through Arum Holdings, which listed Magudumana as CEO and Bester, under the alias of TK Nkwana, as chairman.
As soon as she saw Bester strewn across the news, she took to Twitter to share her story of almost being swindled.
Thread1/7 : To the few that know me very well know that i am an introvert but very big at networking bcz i believe that your network is your networth. So last year, I received an invitation to go to S.A as a possible candidate to host a Netflix show alongside Kylie J & Drake 😂 pic.twitter.com/V2YbciictU

The reason she was chosen, of all people, is that the company allegedly “needed an East African for the show and she fit the profile”:
2/7 I asked why me ? and I was told they needed an East African face of a certain physical stature and fluent that can blend so well with the American duo ,fit the luxurious show and give it life. And from their online observation of me “ i was a great contender 🤣🤭.

Despite all the wild promises, Jolly remained sceptical:
4/7 I started reciting Mathew :7:7 . For me the lord had already given. I was told we would use the Netflix platform to feature #visitRwanda, even shoot some of our shows in 🇷🇼 luxurious hotels. As a proud Rwandan, I was knocked off my feet . However, it was too good to be true.

‘As a hustler that believes in the holy Bible, my instincts told me to look through it with a fine tooth comb. I requested the company profile, official invitation and hotel booking, presented it to authorities to seek advice and help me to know how legit it was.’
‘The due diligence was done and I was advised not to go because everything found about the company was screaming scam,’ posted Mutesi, expressing her gratitude to the Rwandan Embassy in South Africa for saving her life from the unknown intentions of the duo.
It is a pity that so many other young girls were caught by Bester. Someone he said he loved was even murdered. He was convicted in 2012 for assaulting and killing Nomfundo Tyhulu, his model girlfriend.
Perhaps we should all heed Jolly’s street-smart advice:
‘Dear young ones, especially those in the limelight, as you are out here fending for yourself, please be vigilant about whoever presents an opportunity to you. Not all that glitters is gold. There are crooks out here with cognitive empathy without compassion. Always seek advice. Stay safe y’all,’ said Mutesi.
Bester and his girlfriend Dr Nandi are still in custody after being brought back to South Africa following their arrest in Tanzania just over a week ago.
