What goes up must come down. Unless you are too high on magic mushrooms.
Mountain rescue teams had to be dispatched to a UK National Park after a group of young men got so high on shrooms that they could not walk down the mountain.
Other hikers noticed the group acting weird on the slopes of Stonycroft Beck, Newlands area of the Lake District National Park, roughly 120 kilometres north of Liverpool.
Two of the men became quite ill soon afterwards and a mountain rescue team had to be dispatched to aid them.
According to Keswick Mountain Rescue, the operation was delicate as they had to convince the men to allow them to guide the group to safety. The mind-bending effects of the psychedelic fungus made the whole operation rather tricky as the men must have been bombed out of their minds.“The casualties were walked down and given advice by the team medic regarding the timing of their onward travel.”
It took 11 rescue personnel almost two hours to finally get the men to safety, or at least to a ‘safe place’ as there is no real safety in the midst of a psychedelic journey.
Recreational drug users often get themselves into trouble when exploring nature with a bit too much ‘spirit’. Evening Standard reported that four hikers had to be rescued a while back from the highest mountain in England after getting so high on weed that they were unable to walk.
The stoned hikers phoned police after they got stuck on Scafell Pike – a 978-metre peak in the Lake District – after smoking a bit too much reefer, with rescue services having to deploy a rescue team, air support, and an ambulance. The police were quoted as saying: “Words fail us …”
Be careful out there when you decide to take some extra vitamins to enjoy mother nature and remember, no one has ever overdosed on weed, so if you find yourself a little too goofed, just eat as much as you can and lie down for a few hours. You’ll be fine.
And if your buddy says “I think we should do 4 grams of shrooms this time”, rather stay in your garden where the gnomes can look after you when you go gaga.
