This one’s for all the single ladies out there. Or at least in Pretoria East.
A Pretoria mom has done what most mothers probably wish they could do and advertised her son on social media to get the 28-year-old out of her hair. This might sound a bit misleading as her son is not exactly a couch-surfing stoner without a job, but nonetheless sy het nou genoeg gehad.
Este van Niekerk, mom of three from Elardus Park in eastern Pretoria, recently took to Facebook to try and find a wife for her single son, 28-year-old Willem, or Vissie, as he is affectionately known. The 55-year-old has had enough of worrying about what he was getting up to and decided to hand over the leash to someone else.
Mom told You that she is looking for “cute, spontaneous and friendly” 23- to 28-year-olds who will be able to take good care of her boy, and after the post went viral, it seems there might be a method in her mom-madness.
“A daughter-in-law will be very welcome. I’m tired of worrying about my youngest son. I never know where he is when he’s gone out.”
The ‘advert’ was supposed to be a joke on her son after she couldn’t get hold of him on his cellphone during a night out.
“Braaiing, fishing, going out with friends, then his phone’s off, sometimes he plays golf, then goes out, then his phone’s off . . .”
The battery had only died, but Este says she was tired of constantly worrying about Willem.
That phone is the bane of her life. By day he uses it for work and if he goes out with friends in the evenings “the damn thing goes flat” – and she has no way of getting hold of him to find out if he’s okay.
She had no idea that she just created a perfect ‘mom-line dating’ opportunity.
Willem doesn’t even stay with her. He lives in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg, where he works as a professional rigger. According to his mom, he is a good catch and loves braaiing, doesn’t drink a lot, and can handle his own in the kitchen. These are traits that any would-be daughter-in-law would appreciate.
He also has a sense of humour and is having a lekker lag about all the promising messages he is receiving via Facebook.
“The choice is definitely Willem’s, not mine. One day he’ll decide for himself who he wants to marry, and it really doesn’t have to happen right now”.
So far Willem has only responded to one of the messages and even went on a date with the lucky lady. Pretoria’s most eligible bachelor will however not divulge whether there will be a second date. Gentlemen never tell.
Vissie seems like a nice guy, so perhaps out there among our Pretoria readership there is a special lady just waiting for an employed guy that can braai and play golf. And he loves his mom so, that already makes him marriage material. He’s going to need a new phone though.
Any takers?
