At least two people have been confirmed dead when a hot air balloon ride turned into a nightmare as the gondola they were in caught fire after the balloon lifted off into the sky.
According to The South African, the balloon was near the vicinity of the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan when the fire erupted. The casualties were a married couple and a young girl who managed to survive the ordeal with severe burns.
The horror unfolded in front of onlookers, and as always, someone caught the tragic events on camera.

There are approximately 3 000 hot air balloon accidents every year, but this must surely be the worst-case scenario for balloonists.
