When Saffron Kelly found out she was pregnant on her 15th birthday, it was a shock, to say the least.
Well, maybe not a shock, but the fear the teenager must have felt must have been very real. Herself still a child, the question of how she would care for the child whilst still in school was probably the biggest source of her fear.
The young mother has however revealed in a News24 article that thanks to her TikTok account, where she has nearly 400 000 followers, she actually makes a good income and this allows her to care for her baby.
Her YouTube and TikTok pages are devoted to the daily struggles of raising a baby whilst still doing homework and going to school.
“I wouldn’t change anything for the world”.
Safron and her 10-month-old baby live with her mother and say that despite the challenges, it is an incredible experience to raise little Ivy-Mae.

The attraction to her TikTok account is most likely more to do with the novelty of seeing a teen mom raising a child and less to do with parenting tips, but so far her most popular video has been viewed more than 23 million times, and she has made around £2 000 (R44 700) so far from her account.
Her mother, Helen, who became a grandmother when she was 43 when Saffron’s sister fell pregnant at 17, was “absolutely devastated” when Saffron told her she was pregnant but now feels her granddaughter gave her “so much joy” every day.
Calling her boyfriend her ‘soul mate’, the teenage father was only 15 when Safron fell pregnant, but according to her, he has been there for her and the baby throughout the tumultuous time.
Besides being a bit young to have kids, the couple does seem to manage. You can have a look at a typical day in the life of teen parents below.
Sheesh, college is going to be fun.
