After some internet speculation and guesswork, the next lush location for the hit series The White Lotus has been revealed.

The movie industry trade site Variety exclusively reported that the 10-time Emmy-winning HBO series is moving on after filming at the fancy Four Seasons resorts in Hawaii and Italy for seasons one and two, respectively.

Just as the second season of The White Lotus was wrapping up, there was talk that season three would be set somewhere in Asia.

Well, that is the case as the third season is reportedly being set in Thailand:

“It’s possible that Season 3 will take place at one of the luxury hotel giant’s four properties in Thailand, which are located in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and the Golden Triangle.

Thailand’s Four Seasons resorts are spread across the city, country, jungle and beach, giving White plenty of settings to play with, if he so chooses.”

The creator/director/writer did hint that season three would be in Asia:

“The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex,” White said in a clip pegged at the end of the Season 2 finale. “I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”

Variety based its reporting on “multiple sources close to the production” who also note that Mike “has been spending time in Thailand scoping out sites.”

Casting details are still in the works, but as season two featured a totally new ensemble – bar everyone’s favourite Jennifer Coolidge – it’s safe to assume there will be plenty of fresh faces on vacation in Asia – except Jennifer, because, well, “the gays” killed her.

Sorry, spoiler, but if you’re here you should have known.

I am personally sad that The White Lotus won’t talk about “death and Eastern religion and spirituality” in Japan, but alas, Thailand should be a vibe.

As for the disappointment that Jennifer won’t make a repeat appearance, well, I am hopeful that she still might:
