Riana Pretorius, the Eastern Cape biokineticist who was kidnapped outside a medical practice more than a week ago, has been found unharmed this morning.
Pretorius, 26, was allegedly kidnapped in front of a Newton Park medical office in Pickering Street, Gqeberha. Three armed men forced her into a white Toyota Corolla before speeding away.
There had been a frantic search for her over the last week, including rumours that her family had been contacted with ransom demands.
Eastern Cape spokesperson for the Hawks, Capt Yolisa Mgolodela, confirmed to TimeLIVE this morning that she had been found.
“The only thing I can confirm to you is that she is safe and sound. I don’t have finer details at the moment.”
A suspect has been detained in connection with the abduction and will appear in the Gqeberha magistrate’s court for a bail application on Friday.
Xolisile Rawutini, 40, has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition when he appeared in court this past Monday.
For now, it appears as if Pretorius is safe and unharmed and in the care of her family.
