There is something quite wonderful about turning off your laptop after a long day at the office and going home to unwind. Some might take a nap or hit a stretch before eating out perhaps… However, many of us will probably make a tasty meal, kick back on the couch and watch a delicious series on Netflix.
In between some episodes, it’s kind of fun to see what your favourite creator is up to on Tik Tok. Now, imagine if you could watch extended clips of your favourite content creators, wouldn’t that be great?
Well according to Variety, Tik Tok is planning to roll out a new feature called “Series”. This new feature will enable content creators to produce longer videos, which they can sell at a certain price. Viewers will have the opportunity to purchase these longer clips on the creator’s profile or through links in each video.
It seems like the social media behemoth wants to get a bigger slice of the viewership/app engagement pie. The thing I find enthralling about this is the fact that content creators have a chance to create their own Tik Tok Originals. I suppose the best part about this brilliant feature provides Tik Tok users with another way to earn more money.
Let’s get into how Series works. Each individual Series can include up to 80 videos. These clips will be 20 minutes long.
“This gives the Tik Tok community a new, longer format to watch their favourite creators and content” representatives from the company said.
Savvy users of the app know that the maximum length of all videos is ten minutes long. It’s nice to know that the Chinese-owned dynamo wants to push its own envelope. As with all new product innovations on these apps, the rollout will commence with the app’s most viewed creators. At some point in time, the Series will be open to all users who wish to create longer videos.
Now, imagine being able to go home after a long day at the office and spend some watching a season of your favourite Tik Tokker. Doesn’t that sound like a way to unwind?
