Seven people aboard a Lufthansa ‘flight from hell’ were taken to a hospital after the plane dropped almost 1 200 metres in severe turbulence.
Lufthansa flight 469 was heading from Austin to Frankfurt, Germany on March 1, when, around 90 minutes into the trip during dinner service, the flight shook the living hell out of everyone on board.
Matthew McConaughey’s wife was among the passengers on board the unfortunate Lufthansa flight and took to social media to describe the gut-wrenching moment and aftermath.
Camila Alves McConaughey shared a now-well-circulated video on Instagram of the chaos in the cabin, even though a flight attendant apparently twice made an announcement to get rid of any images and videos of the mayhem, The New York Post reported.
A couple of passengers said that Lufthansa had asked everyone to delete any damning footage, but plenty of images nevertheless made their way to social media, showing food, papers and debris littering the cabin floor.

One passenger said she suffered a concussion, bruised her arm and potentially fractured her hip, having thought that “we were going down” when the plane hit the rocky patch.

Another passenger thought she would die:
Samantha Pinto, 29, who was seated by the window in Row 33, told the Washington Post that she saw a baby flying out of a bassinet and the mother reaching out to grab the child from the air as people prayed.
“I seriously thought we were going to die,” said Pinto, an graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin who was headed to Rome with her boyfriend.
Susan Zimmerman told ABC News that “It was all of a sudden we lifted up, and then we started dropping down really fast. It felt like about five seconds of free fall.”
The pregnant woman said she worried about her unborn daughter and husband during the incident, thinking, “God, just let me out of this.”
“I’m five months pregnant, so I was honestly thinking I’m never going to meet my daughter,” Zimmerman told ABC News. “I was trying to just keep myself calm so as to not put any further undue stress on her.”
Zimmerman said that once things stabilised, the flight attendants checked on all the shaken passengers. They apparently needed to carry one injured woman to the front of the plane before landing.
Officials confirmed that seven people were taken to area hospitals for the treatment of minor injuries after the plane diverted and landed safely at Washington Dulles International Airport.
