Seconds before an SUV ploughed into the café window where podcaster Nathan Reeves was sitting, he said: “It got so quiet in here”.
Reeves could not have known that setting up for a podcast session at Tout Suite café in Houston, Texas, on that Saturday would have seen him almost mowed down by a Chevrolet Tahoe.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the crash, Houston police said per AP News.
Reeves had been filming an interview with guest Alexsey Reyes, a 22-year-old Houston photographer, for the fifth episode of his YouTube Channel November Romeo when the woman driving the Tahoe with two passengers ploughed into the café.
Houston police spokesperson John Cannon said that she had run a red light, and then struck a Ford Escape before crashing into the establishment with more than a dozen people inside.
Reeves uploaded the video to his YouTube channel where it has amassed thousands of views:
Reeves was glad to have come out of the crash unscathed:
“It was shock and a lot of adrenaline at first. But then after we made sure everybody seemed to be OK,” the 20-year-old Reeves told the Associated Press. “I was just freaking out that I got the whole thing on film.”
His friend Reyes processed the crash more slowly, mentioning that he found glass shards in his hair and arms later in the day and realised as more time passed “how badly it could have ended”.
