Lufthansa has revealed a closer look at its new ‘private room’ for the skies.
The swish first-class suite is part of the European airline’s new Allegris offering that hopes to elevate the in-flight experience on long-haul routes.
Debuting properly next year, the new Suite Plus on Lufthansa’s new Airbus 350s will have floor-to-ceiling privacy walls and a door that shuts completely.
It also has two generous seats that can be turned into a comfortable double bed if desired, making the suite a private double cabin essentially.
Besides also being able to control the temperature of each seat (which is nearly one meter wide) to ensure maximum comfort, guests can share a meal, a drink, or a meeting with their travel companion on the table situated between the seats, or connect their mobile devices to the entertainment system to listen to their preferred music or watch their favourite flicks.
Speaking of dining, fliers can enjoy dishes from the gourmet menu in their own room or opt to join fellow first-class folk at a large communal table.
There’s also a full-suite wardrobe available, so fliers can hang their clothing and arrive wrinkle-free.
Lufthansa was definitely going for something of a hotel room, per Travel & Leisure:
“Every guest has their own understanding of premium, which is why we focus on maximum individuality and exclusivity,” said Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines, at the unveiling event in Berlin. “The First Class Suite Plus conveys the feeling of privacy and individuality similar to a hotel room – only at an altitude of 11 kilometers.”
The airline is also making improvements to its Economy and Premium Economy areas.
Business-class passengers will have their own suites with chest-high walls and sliding doors, while those in the first rows will also enjoy 27-inch monitors, wardrobes and personal minibars, notes Robb Report.
Lufthansa is upgrading 80 new dual-aisle aircraft – including Airbus A350s, Boeing 787-9s and Boeing 777-9s – to have the Allegris setup.
Hey, if you can swing it, four walls and a bed while flying to a new country is a dream.
