By now everyone is already gatvol of hearing about the Will Smith/Chris Rock slapping incident at last year’s Oscars. Every single celebrity, presenter, blogger, and person with access to a mic has raised an opinion about the uncharacteristically stupid show of chivalry. The only person who has not publicly addressed the issue has been Chris Rock himself. Now, after saying he will only address the incident when “I get paid”, it seems he is finally ready to cash that blank cheque.
The ‘smaller Rock’ will be launching his Netflix special, Selective Outrage on March 4th, just days before the Oscars, and insiders have told reporters that it is going to be filled with Will Smith jokes.
“If you were waiting to see Rock on tour address the infamous Will Smith slap situation… the comedian is waiting to spill his humorous take on it on his live Netflix stand-up special.”
Thus far, Rock has only made slight mention of the infamous slap, but as the ringing in his ears subsided, we are sure it was replaced with the sound of ‘ka-ching’. And now he gets to cash in on the embarrassing spectacle.
After 6ft 2in Will slapped the comic, sat back in his chair, and howled at Chris: “Keep my wife’s name out your f****** mouth” – before Academy bosses let him go on to pick up his Best Actor Oscar for his role in ‘King Richard’, which saw him cry on stage.
Chris Rock: Selective Outrage will be the first-ever live-streaming event hosted by Netflix, and the comedian is being joined by veteran funny people like Jerry Seinfeld, Amy Schumer, and Leslie Jones. The event will take place in front of a sold-out crowd at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore.
The 95th Academy Awards will air nine days later, but seeing as Will Smith has been banned from the ceremony until 2032, presenters won’t have to be worried about being assaulted on stage. But who knows, maybe one of Hollywood’s elite might choose this year to also jump on the crazy train.
Will Smith has in the meantime posted an ‘apology’ video online, where he said ‘words hurt’. Chris however scoffed at this by saying: “Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face. Will did the impression of a perfect person for 30 years, and he ripped his mask off and showed us he was as ugly as the rest of us.”
So far it seems the only person supporting Will’s action is his annoying son Jaden. Apple, tree, who cares. Despite not being banned like her slap-happy hubby, it has not yet been confirmed whether Jada Pinkett Smith or any of her lovers, will be attending.
