King Charles III’s Coronation concert to be held on May 6 is looking a little sparse of celebs.
All the musicians that the planners had hoped would fill the stage at Windsor Castle for the big British royal event have turned the opportunity down, including the Spice Girls, Harry Styles, and Elton John.
Apparently, all three acts turned down the chance to hit the stage because of busy schedules.
Adele and Ed Sheeran have also previously said no to the opportunity for similar reasons.
The Spice Girls were confirmed for a brief moment last month, but then things changed, so there will be no reuniting of girl power this time around, unfortunately.
Perhaps Posh Spice is too busy wagging an angry finger at her son and his wife, whom she allegedly fights with all the time.
Both Elton John and Harry Styles are on tour and thus, won’t be able to make the date work, Marie Claire reports:
“Organizers are working against the clock to pull together an exciting lineup but have hit a series of challenges,” a source tells The Sun. “Elton John was top of Charles’ list, but, due to his European tour, which sees him performing in Germany the Friday before, then again soon after the Windsor concert, he isn’t able to make the dash to the U.K. work. Meanwhile, man-of-the-moment Harry Styles is also tied up with touring and unable to get key band members together, as they’ll be on much-needed downtime.”
It’s not that dismal though, as Kylie Minogue has reportedly said yes, as has the boy band Take That, who are rumoured to be headlining the concert:
“The biggest names and acts in world music are being approached for the concert,” a source says. “If you draw up a list of the most popular acts in the world over the past 30 years, then they are all being considered. But Take That were right near the top of that list and are a massive coup for the organizers to get over the line so early.”
However, ExpressUK reports that Robbie Williams has been absent from the reunion, so it might just be Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald wowing the Coronation crowd.
Lionel Richie and Andrew Lloyd Webber are also said to be scheduled.
Following the Coronation ceremony at Westminister Abbey earlier in the day, the concert is expected to entertain the invited 2 000 guests.
That guest list number is a quarter of the number that attended Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation in 1953, by the way.
Prince Albert of Monaco and Princess Charlene will be at the coronation, along with scores of other foreign royals, leaders and dignitaries expected to attend.
It remains uncertain whether Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle will pitch up.
