Capetonians, start your engines!
If you are one of the lucky 15 000 people to have gotten your hands on tickets for the Cape Town E-Prix, Saturday is going to be a day you won’t soon forget. The first-ever ‘electric grand-prix’ held on African soil is ready to roll, and from what we’ve managed to decipher from the jabbering of our Alonso-in-Chief, it’s “gonna be a hell of an event”.
It’s also going to be a long day, so before you pull on your Puma’s and run for the door, take note of some information that will make your day run as smooth as a Lithium-ion powered racing car.
Tickets
If you haven’t bought tickets online, you’re out of luck – no tickets will be available to purchase in person on race day, so unless you have a pre-bought ticket, you will not be able to enter.
Take note: If you have reserved a seat in the grandstand, please make sure that you only sit on your allocated seat. It’s not a first come, first serve affair, so play fair!
Access
Gates will be open from 08:00. Qualifying sessions start at 11:30am, and the race by 15:30pm.
Parking
There is no parking available for ticket holders or anywhere near the race track, and strict access control will be in place. Find a detailed list of road closures in and around the foreshore here.
Alternative Travel Options:
Fan Walk: This will be a festive route, so why not take a stroll?
Park & Ride with MyCiTi Bus: Take a MyCiTi bus from Cape Town Civic Centre from 7am. This is a free service for ticket holders.
Uber: Book an Uber. They will have a dedicated drop-off point near the Stadium, and frankly, on a day like this, you don’t want to navigate traffic.
Food & Beverage
A wide range of foods and beverages will be available in the Allianz Fan Villages, including a Woolworths, Vide E Café, Holy Macaroni, Hippo’s Diner, Bobalicious Bubble Tea, For the Love of Coffee, Captain Corndog, Kauai and loads more.
No Cash – Cards only!
You will not be allowed to bring food and beverages into the venue, so leave your cooler full of beer at home.

Below is the schedule for all the races on the day:
If you haven’t done so already, have a look at the Formula E-Prix website for any details you might have missed.
If the weather services are to be believed, Cape Town is going to have a beautiful day, so remember to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and be nice to your fellow spectators.
This going to be E-Pic!
