Jasper Kraus thought he was doing a good turn when he took in a Brahma chicken after it attacked a child, but little did he know that opening his home to the feathered fiend would lead to his death.
An Irish inquest was launched after EMT personnel found Kraus in a pool of blood in his kitchen, with the only clue to his death being a puncture wound to the back of his leg. A trail of blood led investigators from his back door to a chicken coup where they found the malevolent rooster with bloodstains on his feet.
Kraus’s daughter confirmed that the chicken was moved to her father’s property after it attacked her daughter. A tenant staying at Kraus’s home, Corey O’Keefe, confirmed that he heard the victim scream for help after which he found him in the kitchen with a big puncture wound to his calve. The wound was bleeding profusely so O’Keefe called emergency services, as well as his daughter.
As Kraus went in and out of consciousness, O’Keefe reportedly said, he said the word “rooster.”
Fox News reports that by the time the EMTs arrived, the patient was already in bad shape, and despite performing CPR on him, they were unable to revive him and he died of his injury.
The coroner has ruled Kraus’s death as a ‘misadventure’. We suppose ‘murder by chicken’ would have raised too many questions. It’s unsure what happened to the chicken, but we suggest flame-grilled, with a spicy Durky Sauce.
