Actor Matthew McConaughey seems to be serious about his intentions to run for the White House top job in the 2028 elections. So much so that the 53-year-old Oscar winner has already put together a team to handle finances for his presidential bid. It would however seem that his wife, Camilla Alves, is not so enthusiastic about the idea.
Radar Online quoted Camilla recently as saying that she fears the actor’s bid to run the home of the brave could be too much and end up ‘consuming him.’
“Matthew, when he gets a notion, he rides it like a bucking bull!”
McConaughey initially had his political sights set on being Texas Governor in 2021, but since Donald Trump’s media-driven rise to power, it appears as if the actor has decided to emulate the other famous actor-turned-president, Ronald Reagan, and is going for the top spot.
McConaughey’s last acting role was in 2019 after which he took time off to focus on his kids, Levi, 14, Vida, 13, and Livingston, 10. His 41-year-old model wife now fears that his presidential ambitions will undo all the hard work he has put into the family.
“Camila got Matthew to pull away from acting so he could be a more present father.”
The two beautiful people have been married since 2012 and dated for 6 years before deciding to tie the knot. McConaughey’s political involvement has been growing in the last few years, and in 2020 he famously described the US’s political state as “two vehicles on either side of the political aisle that are so far apart their f—— tires aren’t even on the pavement anymore.”
Whether his laid-back attitude is going to gel lekker with the intense backstabbing and in-fighting in Washington remains to be seen. During an interview with ‘actor turned conspiracy-guru’ Russel Brand, he took issue with the ‘arrogant’ and ‘condescending’ attitude people had towards the voters who chose Trump.
“There’s a lot on that illiberal left that absolutely condescend, patronise and are arrogant towards that other 50 percent,”
The Dazed and Confused star might find it difficult to sell his ‘let’s all get along’ approach to the folks in Washington. But it’s still a few years to go before 2028… Even if the United States manages to not tear itself apart in the next few years, Matthew would still have to get his wife’s approval.
Alright alright alright…
