With all the Y2k trends making a major comeback lately, it couldn’t be any more appropriate (and exciting) to welcome one of the 2000s’ most loved boy band stars, Ronan Keating, to South Africa again.
Indeed, Ronan Keating announced his tour of South Africa taking place this March, which will see him perform at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens on Friday, March 3 and at SunBet Arena, Time Square in Pretoria on Sunday, March 5.
Honestly, there’s no better way to celebrate all the 2000s nostalgia than with a Boyzone singer.
Granted, though, the Irish singer/ songwriter has done a commendable job of going above and beyond his boy band days to carve out his solo name in the global music sands, with 12 of his own studio albums to boast.
Ronan Keating began his music career with Boyzone, having answered a newspaper advert to audition for the (then) brand-new Irish boyband in 1993.
Now, nearly 30 years later, the singer, songwriter, broadcaster, TV presenter, actor, philanthropist, loving husband and dedicated father is still going strong.
As someone who loved belting out his two number-one singles ‘When You Say Nothing At All’ (August 1999) and ‘Life Is A Rollercoaster’ (July 2000) in the car on the way to school, or his all-time heartbreaker ‘Father and Son’ on Sing Star for PS4 (remember that?), it is so cool to welcome him onto two South African stages in March.
That last track charted at number two on Christmas Day in 2004 and has always been important to Ronan who had originally enjoyed success with it in 1995 when Boyzone released it as a single. It was also the song he sang at his Boyzone audition.
Anyway, Ronan is no stranger to South Africa.
Specialist wealth management company, Citadel, has a long-standing relationship with Ronan, bringing him to our country annually to raise funds for local charities alongside golf legend, Gary Player.
To date, Citadel, Ronan and Gary have raised R5 million to benefit vulnerable South African children.
This year, Ronan is adding two public concert dates to his schedule, proudly brought to you by Citadel and BREAKOUT Events.

Despite the challenging COVID-19 lockdowns, 2020 saw the release of Ronan’s latest studio album, ‘Twenty Twenty’, celebrating his 20th year as a solo artist.
Whilst his 9th UK Top 10 solo album would usually be the highlight of any year, that accolade was wonderfully overshadowed by the arrival of Ronan’s fifth child Coco Knox Keating.
I’m not crying, you’re crying while listening to ‘Father and Son’. Okay, I am crying too.

Besides doing what he does best (singing), Ronan is also a presenter on BBC’s prime time entertainment show The One Show as co-host, as well as being on the judging panel on ITV’s The Voice Kids.
He’s a busy man, and so we’re chuffed beyond to have him grace us with his presence here in South Africa soon.
