This is one wild ride.
It is not often that someone is running from the police in one moment and then depending on them to save their life in the next.
Police in the US state of Georgia rescued a man from an overturned stolen patrol car on Saturday mere seconds before it was hit by an oncoming train.
Before the intense rescue mission, the man had the police on his tail during a high-speed chase as he had hopped in and stolen a police vehicle during a traffic stop, per the BBC.
When he lost control of the car, he overturned it on train tracks and forced the police to save his life.
Fox News has more:
The theft of the police car happened just after 2 a.m. Saturday while the officer was conducting a traffic stop, the Atlanta Police Department said.
As the officer spoke with the driver of the vehicle, the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Mickal Parker, jumped behind the wheel of the police car and sped away, according to authorities. Parker was not involved in the initial traffic stop.
A high-speed chase and car flip later, and Parker was being rescued by the authorities he was trying to escape.
Police released aerial and bodycam video of officers working with the Georgia State Patrol to pull him from the vehicle just seconds before the train struck the patrol car.
Watch the daring scene unfold:
The Atlanta Police Department said Parker was charged with theft by taking, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, obstruction and damage to city property.
