Whether it’s sweet revenge, a wish that your ex will quit bugging you or just the satisfaction of watching a roach or a rat with your ex’s name get eaten by another animal, this American zoo has you covered for Valentine’s Day.
The San Antonio Zoo is offering a special V-Day gift for exes who seriously need to bugger off.
For around $10 (just under R200), the zoo will name a cockroach after your not-so-special someone and feed it to an animal.
You may also choose a vegetable for $5 or a rodent for $25, depending on the strength of the message you wish to send.
This is part of the San Antonio Zoo’s annual ‘Cry Me a Cockroach’ fundraiser which hopes to “support the zoo’s vision of securing a future for wildlife in Texas and around the world”, per the website:

Besides getting a digital Valentine’s Day Card showing your support for the zoo, you can also ask to send a digital Valentine’s Day card informing your ex that they were named after a cockroach, rodent, or veggie and fed to an animal at the zoo.
There’s also a $150 upgrade, which includes a personalised video message to your no-bo showing their cockroach, rodent or vegetable being devoured by an animal.
Either way, be sure to seal it with a hiss.
This campaign is a total hit – because who wouldn’t want to see their ex go down as a stinking pest – with the zoo receiving more than 8 000 donations from all 50 states and over 30 different countries last year.
Cyle Perez, the zoo’s director of public relations, told CNN that they are on track to break last year’s record, with Zach, Ray and Adam being the most submitted ex-names so far.
Last year, the most popular names were Jacob and Sarah.
