The fact that there are far too many top-tier foodie destinations in the world hasn’t stopped TripAdvisor from trying to determine the best of the best.

The online review site is back at it again, chipping in with its list of the world’s best food destinations for 2023.

As a part of TripAdvisor’s ‘Travellers’ Choice: Best of the Best’ series, which essentially ranks destinations based on the quantity and quality of reviews over the last 12 months, Cape Town has cracked a spot on the “Best Food Destination” in the world list.

While the top food destination in the world is Rome, per TimeOut, the Mother City has come in at number 16 – like a sweet and humble pie.

Here are the top ten best food destinations for 2023, according to TripAdvisor:

1. Rome, Italy
2. Crete, Greece
3. Hanoi, Vietnam
4. Florence, Italy
5. Paris, France
6. Barcelona, Spain
7. Lisbon, Portugal
8. Naples, Italy
9. New Orleans, USA
10. Jamaica

As Good Things Guy notes, Cape Town is teeming with good food and fab restaurants, from the hidden gems that can be found in the city centre, all the way up the West coast, making your way inland towards the Klein Karoo, all surrounded by the stretching vineyards of the region.

Indeed, we are all so proud to see Cape Town earning yet another global accolade.
