It is Data Privacy Day this Saturday, January 28, and Apple is celebrating with a humorous little film.
The short film stars actor Nick Mohammed from the hit Apple TV+ comedy series Ted Lasso, following a day in his life as an “average person”, much to his dismay.
Mohammed is accompanied by Von, who is an actual Specialist at Apple’s Tower Theatre store in Los Angeles, according to Apple, who teaches him about how to protect the data on his iPhone.
Per Mac Rumours, the video does a wonderful job of highlighting privacy features such as Mail Privacy Protection, Intelligent Tracking Prevention, and App Tracking Transparency on your trusty iPhone.
Take notes and enjoy:
Accompanying the video is also a new Today at Apple session – which is an online education initiative to inspire customers to go further with their passions and the products they love – called “Taking Charge of Your Privacy with iPhone“.
It will ultimately help users further understand Apple’s privacy features and how they can protect their data better:
“At Apple, we’re focused on designing devices, features, and services that keep users in control of their personal data,” said Erik Neuenschwander, Apple’s director of user privacy.
“Over the years we’ve integrated powerful privacy controls into our operating systems. This film and our new Today at Apple sessions will show users how they can take advantage of some of the features we offer, and understand how privacy is at the center of everything we do.”
Digicape, South Africa’s largest independent Apple retailer, can also help you figure out the privacy options on any of your Apple products if you would prefer to speak face-to-face with someone local.
At least you can rest assured that your iPhone is not actively trying to stalk you and your activity, but is rather there to work with you and for you.
Almost like an added limb, if you will.
