Kanye West might be denied an Australian visa because of his recent anti-Semitic remarks on Twitter.
According to Sky News, the rapper and part-time Basset Hound impersonator runs the risk of having his visa application refused by the southern hemisphere nanny state after he repeatedly praised Hitler and posted pictures of swastikas on his Twitter feed.
His public support for the dead fascist is considered a valid reason for denying him a visa, according to the Australian government, who have in the past denied entry to similarly minded individuals.
West, or Ye as he refers to himself these days, is planning a trip down under to visit the family of his new partner, Bianca Censori, who grew up in Australia. We can’t help but imagine that they might be somewhat relieved.
Australian opposition leader Peter Dutton claims that previous immigration ministers had the authority to deny visas, should the applicant be ‘of bad character’.
“His anti-Semitic comments are disgraceful, his conduct, his behaviour are appalling. He’s not a person of good character and the minister has the ability to stop somebody coming into our country of bad character.”
In the meantime, the Executive Council of Australian Jewry has also lobbied the government not to allow Ye into Australia.
The ‘Praise God’ hitmaker might have been able to pull a few diplomatic strings while his friend, The Orange Wonder was still in the White House, but Ye is finding out that the world is a cold place when you’re not keeping up with the Kardashians.
