He also tweeted about his milk buyer having to dump their milk supply thanks to Eskom, adding in Zulu that people are going to go hungry:

The KZN Agricultural Union (Kwanalu) is reportedly meeting Eskom this week to allow farmer representatives to discuss critical and life-threatening issues. Here’s Kwanalu CEO Sandy la Marque:
“The constant disruptions to farming activities are impacting on food security, safety and security on farms, provision of water to animals and irrigation systems, production lines and cold chains are disrupted — the severe impact list goes on and on,” she said.
“In addition, reports of slow and limited assistance when there are breakdowns, exorbitant line fees with limited service, recurring maintenance issues, for example repeated phase failures, are unattended — again, the list goes on.”
The poultry industry has also been thwarted badly by load shedding, with over 10 million chicks being culled over the course of six weeks earlier this month.
With talk of load shedding stage 10 (!!!???), the trajectory for South Africa’s food security is certainly on a downward spiral.
Let’s hope the agricultural sector’s “proposed solutions” will do the trick.
