Perhaps one of the best indicators that the lockdown had been lifted came one Thursday afternoon when the iconic Mavericks aeroplane took to the skies again after an absence that was felt by many men, and quite a few women.
The sight of ‘New Dancers‘ soaring over the mother city proved that we were back in business.
But for many of our new dancers, the extended lockdown period forced them to look at alternative ways to earn money, outside of the baby powder-smelling gloom of a gentleman’s club.
And just as online streaming service Netflix came to our rescue when Ster Kinekor was shut, so did OnlyFans, which became a new, and lucrative, source of income for many in the adult entertainment industry.
Swedish-born Monica Huldt, 38, had been earning about R1,7 million per year when the pandemic hit, and as everyone retreated indoors, she was forced to look at OnlyFans as her main source of income.
But far from being a ‘sideline’, her account ‘exploded’, and today, she rakes in about R12,5 million per annum.
“I make $750,000 (about R12.8 million) a year from OnlyFans now that I’ve recognised that most of what I earn is from customs.”
Sound too good to be true? Well, Huldt has now given Insider access to her financial records as proof, and the lady is making a killing. Most of her earnings come from ‘customs’, whereby she provides a custom ‘experience’ to her subscribers.
‘It’s a personal interaction. Your fans are interested in what you’re doing on a daily basis. It’s also about doing a lot of custom content, where someone can say: “I want you in high heels wearing this” or “I want you baking a cake.”‘
Although it seems like easy money to most people, Huldt is adamant that it’s a 24/7 job, with expenses beyond just sexy lingerie and furry backdrops.
“I’ve pumped a lot of money into growing my business. I’d estimate I’ve spent maybe $200,000 to $300,000 (R3.4 million to R5.1 million) on promotion and coaching.”
It seems to be paying off for the Swedish beauty as she feels confident that her success can be used to help other women who want to make money on their own terms.
“I’m trying to build up my business enough so I can retire and do only social-media management and coaching for people who need it.”

According to Wikipedia, OnlyFans is an internet content subscription service used primarily by sex workers who produce pornography, but it also hosts the work of other content creators, such as physical fitness experts and musicians.
With 50 million registered users, OnlyFans seems to be here to stay. So if you don’t have any issues with taking your kit off, or vacuuming the house in the nude while live-streaming to a worldwide audience, it might just be the perfect way to make money and save the farm.
I might give it a try. Does anyone want to see a balding middle-aged man clean the garage in the buff?
