My Aarde.
A recent Afrikaans advert for the local accommodation booking website LekkeSlaap has garnered more than 6,5 million views in the last 12 days.
LekkeSlaap allows users to find and book accommodation in South Africa similar to its global counterpart AirBnB, and although their adverts are in Afrikaans, they seem to have hit a chord with South Africans of all cultures.
The advert pokes fun at the strange names Afrikaners often bestow on their kids, in this case, the names of towns where they were conceived.
So, if you grew up in the leafy Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, find yourself an Afrikaans oke to translate, and check it out:
Lekker man, lekker.
