Love him or hate him, Nick Kyrgios seems to be intent on cementing his reputation as the bad boy of tennis.
Tickets for this Friday’s warm-up match against Novak Djokovic sold out in under an hour and the Australian immediately went on Twitter to poke a stick at his detractors.
“Wow Nick Kyrgios is bad for the sport! Wow what a disgrace, a national embarrassment! How dare he sell out another stadium, the arrogance”, Kyrgios tweeted about himself:

The outspoken tennis player has in the past caused controversy with his on-court antics and abrasive attitude which includes spitting at fans and calling his upcoming opponent a “weird cat” and “a tool”.
The two tennis stars seemed to have made up, however, with Kyrgios recently calling their relationship a “bromance”.
The match coincides with the release of a new Netflix documentary, Break Point, in which Kyrgios discusses his “chaotic” rise to fame:
“My life was just kind of spiralling out of control – drinking every single night. For four, five years of my career, it was just so chaotic.”
According to an article in BBC Sport, the feisty Kyrgios does admit crossing the line at times when he is on the court, saying:
“In the heat of the battle, I’m two different people, that’s just my passion, that’s my emotion.”
He might also want to mention arrogance.
As chuffed as he might be about selling out the warm-up match in record time, he should perhaps consider that his opponent is a tennis legend that draws crowds as well. It’s not all about you Nicky.
I for one hope Djokovic kicks his ass in front of a sold-out Rod Laver Arena crowd.
Let him tweet some humble pie, Novak!
