Not sure if you noticed, but last year, the Golden Globes wasn’t broadcast on TV and rather the winners were hilariously dropped into Twitter’s abyss and almost entirely forgotten about.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which runs the whole gig, was (is still, somewhat) in hot water for its lack of inclusion and diversity, with many celebs and streamers stepping out and boycotting the whole thing.
Scarlett Johansson, Netflix, Amazon, and even this year’s best actor nominee The Whale‘s Brendan Fraser were among the dissenters.
These issues are still rearing their ugly heads, and yet the 80th Golden Globe Awards streamed on TV this year (it aired yesterday on NBC).
No one is blamed if they didn’t show up, or didn’t watch.
Nonetheless, we’re providing some of the nominees and winners on the list for your consideration, but take it all with a pinch of salt, I guess.
Except anytime Everything Everywhere All at Once came out on top, like its protagonist Michelle Yeoh winning the Best Actress for Motion Picture in Musical/Comedy award.
She’s up top with the googly eye on her forehead. Legend.
That philosophical jumble was up for six awards in total, just under The Banshees of Inisherin, which led the nomination count at eight.
