An inmate has been keeping TikTok well entertained.

The Texas man, Timothy Chappelle, has gone viral for escaping a police van and running around like a sight for sore eyes in his orange jumpsuit.

He was reportedly being transported between two Smith County jails on Tuesday, January 3, in Tyler in East Texas, when he decided to make a run for it, breaking out of the police van window.

MySA reports:

Chapelle kicked the windows out of the transport van while it was stopped at a red light, according to Tyler station KLTV. The man was then caught on videos sprinting across a parking lot and into a neighborhood.

The transport van’s window and metal grating were completely busted but 7NEWS reported that the van will be retrofitted with new bars, according to the Smith County sheriff.

Another video from TikTok user chadroo76 followed the escaped inmate in his truck. Loving how Chapelle had the gall to ask for a lift:

Chapelle apparently broke into two homes while on the run, one of which was occupied at the time. Then, deputies caught him and returned him to custody.

Chappelle was originally in custody on a criminal mischief charge and is now facing burglary and escape charges as well.

He was sneaky, but not sneaky enough.
