Nothing can take the festive cheer out of you faster than a prolonged and painful hangover.
When you’re lying in bed the next morning vowing to never hurt yourself like this again (while lamenting the fact that you most certainly will) you’d probably try anything to make your head pound less.
There are hangover cures for the ages, and then there is the rich-bitch way of taking care of it: with an intravenous drip straight to the core of the problem.
Well, a US pharmacist has shared a hangover cure she swears is “100 per cent effective”, comparing the concoction to an “oral version of an IV fluid bag”, per The New York Post, so we can all be rich-bitch adjacent:
Ari, a licenced doctor in LA, revealed she takes vitamin B complex, magnesium and a folic acid supplement alongside an electrolyte drink, claiming it is “single-handedly the most effective way” to beat those awful morning after symptoms.
Yup, those four simple ingredients can apparently whip away dehydration and replenish electrolytes. Everyone who has tried it agrees:

While clinical nutritionist Sally O’Neil, who recently launched health coaching platform @status.8020, said she hasn’t actually tried the “hack”, she explained why it “makes sense”:
“In current studies, hangover cures that show positive effects are those that inhibit accelerating alcohol metabolism,” Sally said.
“B vitamins are essential enzymes that are used in the process of turning carbohydrates and alcohol into energy. Thus, taking more B vitamins can assist your body in efficiently metabolising (breaking down) alcohol.
“The electrolytes in the ‘cure’ (such as sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium) may improve symptoms where a deficiency is present, but there doesn’t seem to be evidence that a single bout of drinking causes electrolyte deficiencies or imbalances, assuming no vomiting or diarrhoea has occurred. In this instance, electrolytes may assist.”
Clicks have all the vitamin B complex, magnesium, folic acid supplement, and electrolytes that you need for this December holiday.
The best bet is to take the vitamin B complex and folic acid in the morning before the jol, and then an electrolyte drink and the magnesium supplement when you get home post-party.
Sally also advised everyone trying it to be mindful of the quality of the products they are buying:
“Not all ‘vitamin B complexes’ contain the same B vitamins or ratios,” she said.
“B1 (Thiamine), B2 (Riboflavin), folic acid, B6 and B12 all play a major role in the functioning of the brain and nervous system and arguably could be beneficial in this instance.”
“Remember”, she said, “the only reliable hangover cure is limiting alcohol intake in the first place”.
Party-pooper.
