Looks Like The Garden Route Is Blowing Away This Weekend

This is good news for those of you attending an event today where you need to make awkward small talk.

Good news for those of you attending an event today where you need to make awkward small talk.

“Sheesh, how about that wind up the Garden Route, hey?”

“I know – so what are your December plans?”

Read this and you’ll also be up to speed with the Ramaphosa Phala Phala drama so you can weigh in on that front.

Look, I just write what Seth tells me to write and today we’re discussing the wind along our coastline.

The Citizen published this yesterday regarding updates from the South African Weather Service (SAWS):

The weather service has also issued a yellow level 1 warning for wind between Cape Agulhas and Plettenberg Bay from the afternoon, moderating from the west towards the evening.

“A cold front is passing through tomorrow and is expected to be associated with strong westerly to south-westerly winds of speeds between 50-70km/h and gusting between 80-90km/h over the south coast (Western Cape) from mid-day, moderating from the west towards the evening. Wave heights of about 3.0 – 3.5m are also expected over this region,” warned the weather service.

Gusting up to 90 km/h you say? Riveting.

Observe the yellow warning:

Remarkably, there’s more weather today and it’s still gusty in and around the Western Cape part of the Garden Route:

Further up the coast, conditions look less windy.

I have nothing else to offer other than to say should the Garden Route survive this barrage of wind, there will be December jols aplenty.

Thanks for your time, and sorry.
