Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

The saga of Elton Jantjies and Springbok dietician Zeenat Simjee rumbles on, and the latter’s denials only serve to keep the headlines coming.

Two weeks ago, Elton admitted that he had carried out a long-running affair with Simjee shortly before jetting off to join his wife, Iva Ristic, and kids in Cyprus.

Despite his infidelity, Elton and Iva appear to be getting on quite well and the flyhalf is clearly trying his best to get back in his partner’s good books.

As for their relationship, I think that ship has sailed, as she clarified to News24 last week:

Ristic said she would be filing for divorce once the family was settled in their new home in Cyprus.

“It’s not like I will trust Elton ever again. I haven’t filed for divorce as yet because we are still settling in, and there is so much admin I have to catch up on this side, but once I’m done with everything, I am definitely filing, not to punish Elton, but for me to move on.”

Iva’s public enemy number one remains Simjee, who recently released a statement through her lawyer, Frikkie Erasmus. She denies that it was her who was seen with Elton on that infamous getaway, claiming it was actually someone who looks like her.

Erasmus says that while they know who the person is, they won’t release her name to avoid a “bigger problem”.

Iva wasn’t buying that, taking to social media to mock the claim, and neither is Elton, reports The Citizen:

Jantjies once again confirmed to Afrikaans Sunday publication Rapport that it was Simjee who he had an affair with, and not one of the other three women in the Springbok camp as claimed by Erasmus…

Jantjies told Rapport he doesn’t understand why Erasmus and Simjee are continuing to deny that she had an affair with him.

“There is only Zee,” he said.

The insinuations by Erasmus and Simjee that it may have been another woman affiliated with the Springbok team have not gone down well.

According to Rapport, three women in the Springbok camp – Rene Naylor, the physiotherapist, Zeena Isaacs-van Tonder, the spokesperson, and Lelani van der Merwe, the masseuse, have denied any involvement with Elton.

Erasmus went on to claim that Simjee is a Muslim who doesn’t drink alcohol and she was “simply a confidant” to Elton, rather than the two being romantically involved.

If she was, as Elton has repeatedly claimed, implying that it may have been someone else from within the Springbok camp is a pretty disgusting move.
