Chucking Eggs At King Charles Doesn’t End Well For Protester [Videos]

This protester must have known the morning he woke up and chose violence that he would end up behind bars that night.

Not that his act is entirely disagreeable, but you know, in the eyes of British law and all, he had to be taken down for throwing eggs at King Charles III and his wife Camilla, the queen consort.

The royals were in York, northern England, for a traditional ceremony when a man in the crowd started hurling solid, raw eggs at them and booing loudly.

As soon as the dissent started, a bunch of people in the crowd tried to override the egg-thrower with cries of ‘God save the King’, while police descended upon the lone protester.

Call it old age or a tactical decision, but King Charles appeared to be completely unmoved by the situation, keeping calm and carrying on with the engagement.

Have a look (spot the ‘Not My King’ sign):

From another angle:

I am not sure it was necessary to carry the protester away like a dead man, but okay:

Let the man speak, for crying out loud:

Over to Reuters for the outcome:

“A 23-year-old man was arrested on a suspicion of a public order offence following an incident on Micklegate in York,” police said in a statement. “He currently remains in police custody.”

It is not the first time a British royal has been pelted with eggs.

The late Queen Elizabeth’s royal car was also egged in 2022 when she visited Nottingham, and Charles received a few eggs to the head while on a walkabout in central Dublin in 1995.

It seems that eggs and political leaders go hand in hand, as French President Emmanuel Macron was also pelted pretty aggressively late last year.
