Miss Puerto Rico and Miss Argentina went from competing for the crown to falling in love.

The two beauty queens just revealed to the world that they had been quietly falling in love the whole time that they were competing against each other at the 2020 Miss Grand International competition.

Mariana Varela, 26, and Fabiola Valentin, 22, shared the news on Instagram, saying their wedding happened on October 28.

The video compilation shows all the highlights from their relationship that they managed to keep secret for two years, including a shot of them kissing outside the judicial centre in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where they evidently tied the knot.

“After choosing to keep our relationship private, we open our doors to a special day,” they wrote, in a message translated into English from Spanish, per NewsAU.

At that competition in Thailand, they both ended up in the top 10 and went on to work together.

A number of people in the beauty pageant industry offered their love and congratulations:

“Congratulations to you both. MGIO always supports boundless love,” Miss Grand International said, responding to the marriage.

“OMG congratulations. MGI brought together a beautiful union,” wrote Abena Akuaba, who won the 2020 pageant at which Varela and Valentin met.

The Daily Mail notes that the pair have teased fans before with pictures of themselves snuggled up, but told the world they were just ‘friends’ then:

And while they never confirmed the details of their relationship and it’s unclear when exactly the two began dating, the pair constantly gushed about each other on their respective Instagram accounts, even saying they were ‘blessed’ to be in each other’s lives.

The first post came in April of 2021 and showed the two models wrapped up in each other’s arms in the water and walking hand-in-hand in Thailand:
