Just Stop Oil, a UK-based environmental activist group, has been on a roll of late in London.
First, two of its activists threw cans of tomato soup at Vincent van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’ painting and glued themselves to the walls of the National Gallery.
They tied in the soup motif with a plea about the cost of living and the cost of the oil crisis, which is leaving millions of families “cold and hungry”.
Next, Just Stop Oil protesters targeted a Madame Tussauds waxwork of Prince Charles III, throwing cake into his face and shouting out their demands to save the planet.
Per The Guardian, they quoted the monarch: “In the words of the King, the science is clear.” They went on to say, ‘The demand is simple, just stop new oil and gas, it’s a piece of cake.”
Watch the scene at the royal display at Madame Tussauds London:
PEOPLE reported Madame Tussauds’ statement about the incident, confirming that security intervened and that the exhibit is temporarily closed while they work closely with the Metropolitan Police on the matter.
The protesters staged the demonstration to call for an end to new oil and gas agreements.
